The time limit from Pikmin was removed in Pikmin 2 and barely noticeable in Pikmin 3. by your logic the Pikmin series broke in 2004. the amounts of Days you beat the game in is basically just a high score thing at this point I mean the time per day limit, adding a night mode removes that, which in turn, could essentially remove the need of the timed day as I said 2 replies ago, they could treat night mode as a separate "day". you will still have sunset and it would work exactly as it did in the previous games (you would blast off and leave pikmin you didn't gather behind) but after you finish the day (while in the results screen that happens when you blast off) you have an option to play "Night 1" or skip night and go straight to "Day 2"

"File 1: 56 Days and 55 Nights"? "File 2: 34 Days and 12 Nights"?

And then register the days with "Days with night: Day 3, Day 5." In-game it would show an icon on the day which you continued onto the night.

One of my headcanons is that if there ever was a night mode, the Sun Meter would be replaced with a Moon Meter. So maybe the icon could be a moon?
Also, slightly off-topic: lunar eclipses would be amazing to see.

I would love a lunar or solar eclipse in Pikmin, but it's right up there with magical flying ponies dancing around for the first boss in Pikmin 4. To be honest, why should we even bother hoping for anything in Pikmin 4? We'll just be disappointed. Nintendo hasn't impressed me for a VERY long time. The last time Nintendo impressed me was the release of Super Mario Galaxy (not super long, but you get the point). It's almost as if they don't care as much as they used to. I have SO MANY FRICKING IDEAS AND THINGS I WANT TO SEE IN PIKMIN 4, but it's not worth hoping for because to be honest, we'll be incredibly lucky to even get an options menu. There's a difference between ideas, and good ideas. I believe there is a section on the forums to post them, so post them there and I'd like to see them.
