The Hanger Vampuid is based on Vampire Squids, they hang on wall caves waiting for their prey. How many Pikmin it can eat depends on its size, medium: 4, large: 8. Their real color is the one you see in the model but they can actually camouflage to fit how the wall they are clinging to looks like, if they are clinging to the ceiling you won't be able to see them at all. They can shoot (glowing)ink that acts pretty much the same as regular ink. If you have enough pikmin on them, you can make them fall and make them vulnerable until they climb the wall again.
One way to know if they are hidden in a wall is by looking for black areas, their underside can't change colors.
