I'm curious about how other people play Pikmin. As for me I go at a slow place. I don't care about beating the game in certain amount of days. At least when it comes to Pikmin 2 and 3. I love building up my armies.

I play the pikmin series as quickly as possible while collecting everything.

In Pikmin 3, I always go for all fruits and have been recently going for no death runs. I also like to have my Pikmin numbers be around 150 of each type or higher even if it doesn't matter and usually try to complete the game somewhat quickly.
I play Pikmin 2 at a steadier rate, not caring as much if Pikmin die and taking a bit of time to raise my numbers a good amount, especially on the first day with a new pikmin type (I don't think I got any treasures on the first yellow day, or any caves done on the blue day). My numbers aren't as high as 3 since that game has boss corpses and doesn't have caves in the same style, but I still try to have 50-100 of the originals and 20-30 for purples and whites.

Recently I started a new file in Pikmin 2. I spent one day farming Yellow and Reds. Then the other day I just got the Blue Pikmin due to the fact I forgot where they were. I will walk around the area as a Captain and explore a little. Just so I know what's in the area. I will also kill enemies as a Captain if I can. I try my best not to lose Pikmin. I feel so bad, when they die. I have restarted levels in caves due to losing massive amounts of Pikmin.

Unless I'm explicitly going for a no death run (which doesn't happen outside of Pikmin 3), I only reset when convienent, like on a subfloor or at the beginning of a day, if not, that Pikmin stays dead due to my own laziness. I haven't died too much on my current run of Pikmin 2 (50% of the debt and only eight losses all from battle), but I'm not even halfway through the game so I guess I can't say much.

I could never do a no death run in Pikmin. I am very clumsy, when it comes to fighting in this series.

I usually just speedrun Pikmin 1. I don't care much about loosing Pikmin, just going for least number of days as possible. Not going for world record or anything though.
Pikmin 2 is far too long and very daunting for me to speedrun, I've only beaten it entirely twice. Because of that I only play it casually.
In Pikmin 3 I play Collect the Treasure and Battle Enemies, where I plan to practice until I can bring challenge to the best. Whatever I have to do to get a fast speed.

I do zero-death runs on all three games. I try to do low-day runs as well. However, because I never let Pikmin die, things can get frustrating for me if there's a task that Pikmin can get killed easily in.

I only ever do no death runs in Pikmin 3 because the game is overall easier then the other 2 and has a restart area option which makes it easier to retry since I don't need to reset the game and wait at least a minute to get back into the action. It also helps that I know 3 a lot better and can generally avoid deaths anyway (If I didn't restart upon death, my recent run would have maybe 10-20 deaths, possibly lower).
