A hot topic of discussion regarding Pikmin 4 is what new types of Pikmin they should add.
And in my opinion, they shouldn't add any at all .
Think about what types we currently have. We have a primarily fighting type, we have a flyer, a fast type, and several who are simply immune to hazards. What new type could they add that isn't simply a variant of these? If you ask me, we should give the 7 existing types new abilities, I have several ideas for what these would be, but the point is that seven (technically nine if Mushroom Pikmin and Bulbmin are counted) is a fine number to finish off at.

I agree. If they don't add any new Pikmin, they have add strategy and challenge to the environment. That being said, there is 99.99% that they will add new Pikmin only for the purpose of sales.

Very true. Maybe I'm just too attached to Rocks and Wings and I REALLY don't want too see them suffer the same fate as the Purple and Whites as there is no way they would get rid of the main three.

We actually haven't seen all seven types in one enviroment. Maybe adding one more type, but what would it be?

We actually haven't seen all seven types in one enviroment. "Oh really?" says Fortress of Festivity. Pikmin 4 could have new types of Pikmin, but that means you'd have to axe some other types of Pikmin. I also like Rocks and Wingeds, and it'd be sad to see them go... For instance, my fangame has all canon types except for Rocks and Wingeds, since I started making it before Pikmin 3 came out. The three new types I introduced in it are Cyan, Green, and Brown. But anyway, yeah, I'd say 7 or 8 is the max number of types you can have in a Pikmin game. I also support adding new abilities to the already existing types. Also, they need to bring back the Blues' lifeguarding ability, and they need to balance Purples. Purples were too strong in Pikmin 2 and too weak in Pikmin 3.

All purples did in FoF were 10x carry, and whites were just speed, only a fraction of their actual potential, so I dont think it really counts.

Even if they don't show all their abilities there, they're still Pikmin types, so they still count.
