I've always wanted to join a fourm page for a series I love and for some reason, I haven't done it. Let's change that.
I first heard of Pikmin through the short advertisement of it in Luigi's Mansion. I didn't think much of it, other than "Nintendo's in REALLY bad shape if they have to start throwing commercials for new games in a Mario game" though it did look interesting. On my birthday, we went to a local game store and all I had on my mind was Super Mario Sunshine (ironically though, when I did play it, I actually hated it ) But, I looked over and a copy of Pikmin was sitting there. Perfectly quiet, looked like no one had touched it since it was put on the shelf (That tends to happen when you release a game next to a new SMASH BROTHERS game Nintendo, but I digress) For some reason, I was compelled to get it. So we did and, from the very second I popped it n my Gamecube, I fell in love. The atmosphere, the stress, the writing, and the strategy all formed into one of my favorite games of all time. I STILL play it to this day, though through the Wii version.
My memory with Pikmin 2 is a little hazy. I remember first hearing about it through the American commercial. I still remember my thoughts: "Wait, are those guys dressed as Pikmin? Could it be...? Wait, are some of those guys dressed in Purple and White? NEW PIKMIN TYPES? Oh their getting a hotdog for someone. TWO CAPTAINS? MULTIPLAYER? WOLLYWOGS ARE BACK? FUCK! PIKMIN 2?!?"
My hype fuels were set to max. When I got the game, I was a little disappointed in how bland some of the caves are and how overpowered the new Pikmin types were, but I still had a great time. Just not as good as the original.
Pikmin 3 was my most hyped game...EVER. No joke, I've been wanting this game for 9 years. When I tuned in to Nintendo's 2012 E3 I was interested to hear how they were going to handle the Wii U. What I WASN'T expecting was the next Pikmin game as a launch title. I remember my thoughts for this one too: "PIKMIN 3? BOUGHT FUKIN' TIME! Oh my god, it's gorgeous! Where are the Purples and Whites? ROCK PIKMIN? Oh, their just balanced Purples got it, PIKMIN 3!!!! Wait, is that a FLYING PIKMIN??? YES!!!" The delays hurt quite a bit, but I was still extremely hyped. I gotta say, ALL of that hype was payed off. Everything I loved about Pikmin 1 was back, now with the gameplay refinements from Pikmin 2. I fucking ADORE that game and I feel like I learn new strategies for it every day.
