So, if any of you had ever played TLOZ: The Minish Cap for the GBA, you would know that a big part of it involves shrinking down with the help of the Minish Cap, Ezlo. Doing so will introduce you to the Minish (or the Picori as the townsfolk call them). Minish live in the Minish Woods, Mt. Crenel, Hyrule Town, and various mushrooms and holes across Hyrule. Though, something about their design has led me to speculate something.
Now, when you clicked on this thread, you may have thought things like, "Minish are related to Pikmin", or "The Minish Cap has a lot of Pikmin references". No, I'm telling you that the Minish may as well BE the Pikmin. Here's what I think would happen. After every Pikmin game (meaning no more of various captains enslaving Pikmin for various reasons), Pikmin would probably go through something along the lines of evolving. They would evolve into the Minish. They'd grow more fingers, develop bigger brains, and gain the capability of speech.
The Minish would start by developing a common language. Once they could communicate, they would put their minds together to build offenses and defenses to better survive the various species, who may or may not have also evolved in some way or another. They would further invent and learn the ways of humanity long before. Their knowledge would go on further than humanity's ever did, so they would surpass the technology we have today.
Their technology could advance so far that they end up building gateways to other realms. After much experimentation, they finally see into what appears to be a massive war. Pig monsters and others of the sort were rampaging through the streets of a kingdom. The Minish knew they had to do something. They had their best craftsmen develop a giant double-edged sword and brought it to the king. The king tried to understand them, but all he could hear was "Rip Pico Picori" and "Pic Ripo Pico". He found his green-clad apprentice and told him to have courage and use the gift given by who he called the "Picori". With wisdom and courage, the hero drove out the darkness. When peace had been restored, the people enshrined that blade with care.
After the war, the king set a date of celebration known as the "Picori Festival" in honor of the great gift the Minish had bestowed upon them. Time was running out on the portal the Minish had created. It was quickly depleting their available power, and to prevent a huge power shortage, they closed the portal. Before doing so, they sent out many Minish willing to give the new world a chance. They built a sanctuary surrounding the portal's location, and set off to inhabit the lands.
Fast-forward about 99 years. The Minish live peacefully in forests, mountains, and towns, yet none of them know of their heritage. The earliest settlers had lied to their children saying they had always lived in this kingdom. Instead of sharing stories of the Minish accomplishments and their previous evolutionary state as Pikmin, they were told stories about the Hylians. The only bit of Pikmin heritage left in the Minish are what they wore: hats consisting of Red, Yellow, Blue, and other various colors along with decorative leaves.
What did you guys think of this theory? Does it seem possible or does it make absolutely no sense whatsoever?
Quick side note - Minish are the ones that hide things under rocks and bushes, so thank Pikmin for those rupees you found in the grass!
