What you are looking at is a bulbmin texture located within the files of Pikmin 3. It is identical to the one in Pikmin 2, but it is there, meaning that bulbmin could have eventually been planned for the game. Here is a picture with the texture applied. And here is the texture if you want it. That is all.

Yeah, I remember seeing this. There's even an updated Pikpik carrot model in the files for Pikmin/leader models. Maybe they did plan a new Piklopedia at the beginning.

Yes, this information is not new, however I do believe I'm the first to apply textures and photos of this model, even though its the same as from Pikmin 2.

Interesting! We all know this, but Bulbmin weren't included in P3 because well, no caves. No P2 style caves anyway.
And let's face it, Bulbmin are pretty OP

Although, i really don't want to see them again.

The development process for Pikmin games are fascinating, but Pikmin 3's development blew it through the roof. I'm pretty sure that according to all this information, that Pikmin 3's early development would be very similar to Pikmin 2. I would've loved that honestly, Pikmin 2 is still my favorite in the series.

Too OP and i don't like that regular creatures are immune to everything (but that doesn't really have anything to do with the bulbmin To be fair I think Purples were more OP than Bulbmin, since Purples were excellent in combat and you had access to them anytime... But I see what you're saying about Bulbmin. Personally I wouldn't mind seeing them in P4, but you can only use them at certain places, like in P2. I hope that P4 will be a mix between the playstyles of P2 and P3.

The thing about Bulbmin is they were OP, yes, but they were limited to very specific sections and could not be stored or multiplied. They worked well in Pikmin 2. Bulbmin in Pikmin 3 wouldn't work at all with Pikmin 3's final layout, but they could've had completely different plans for its structure early on.

I'm hoping the same thing. A mix of Pikmin 2 and 3 playstyle. I honestly thought the caves in Pikmin 2 were one of the best things for a game like Pikmin. I don't know how possible that is on the Wii U though, and since they've already done these semi-caves in Pikmin 3 they may never go back to having to keep hopping down deeper into holes like in Pikmin 2.

I think it's possible that they just slapped all Pikmin types from Pikmin 2 onto the game files of Pikmin 3, and then only updated the ones they felt they needed, and left behind the ones they didn't. It might not necessarily mean they planned to bring Bulbmin back. But Nintendo's crazy enough to think a million things during development, so who knows... Plus, they could always have been meant to appear as a cameo. Heck, what if they DO appear as a cameo, somewhere out of bounds on some area, and we just didn't see it? If it's so far away from the action that you need the KopPad's camera, I guess it makes sense to not have a high-poly model.

someone should add these over pikpik carrots as an addon to the white+purples in story mode mod for wii-u's pikmin 3. like you cant throw or pick them up at all, but you can command them to charge, which causes them to go fast and hit hard. the downside would be that they are no longer immune to all elements, and move as fast as a default red pikmin. youd probably need to fix the whole attack crash and onion bugs too, though. it would be nice to see "spotted candypop buds" in both challenge AND story modes. overall, bulbmin would be VERY useful for dealing MASSIVE dammage in combat, but they dont have any unique abillity like element immunity or stunning stomps. plus they cant be thrown, so they need to be used very wisely in bosses or they just wont hit at all. plus they cant carry bombs
