1. Pikmin can be guided further
2. The process is much more simplistic
3. Winged Pikmin can get a ton of height charged at a target
4. Pikmin can latch onto enemies and bosses much quicker
5. The horn sound effect is much cooler than whatever swarming is supposed to sound like.

Although swarming may be better for attacking i think they should add c-stick movement back because of they ability the move your pikmin around objects/obstacles making moving around the map a bit easier.

I don't think c-stick should return because swarming works fine, and the ability to have full camera control makes the game feel nicer for me. One thing that is extremely minor but would make me super happy would be y-axis camera controls, because you have no idea how many times in Pikmin 3 I have tried to readjust the camera or look up to see my pikmin that are further away, and then remember that I can't do that.

The Pikmin in Pikmin 3 move differently then they do in the other games. I think that swarming may sound like a grand idea, but it isn't quite as practical for this version of the game.

I liked swarming. But like what Creative Sushi said, the Pikmin in Pikmin 3 movements are different from Pikmin 1 and 2 and Charging would be better if they keep the same movement style as in Pikmin 3.
EDIT: Honestly I wonder what a hybrid C-Stick and Charging mechanic would be like.

The wiki and the engine guy.

I've been thinking about a C-stick and swarm hybrid for a bit, mostly while trying to gather ideas for what to do for the engine. If the group movement mechanic were to work by moving Pikmin to the cursor, as it is in the NPC! games, then group moving could be implemented like normal, but if the cursor is on top of an enemy and the "move group" is being held down, then the dismiss button could be used to charge. It would provide all of the advantages of group moving (fitting in tight spaces, controlling at a distance, swerving past obstacles, having a few Pikmin work on something without throwing them or charging the entire group, etc.), while still allowing the player to have the entire army rush at an object with minimal confusion. Having the group be controlled with a second analog stick would make this idea a bit worse, though.

C-stick swarm wouldn't work with pikmin 3 and wings as the height is an issue and also yes the pikmin's movement is different to Pikmin1 and 2.

1. Pikmin can be guided further 2. The process is much more simplistic 3. Winged Pikmin can get a ton of height charged at a target 4. Pikmin can latch onto enemies and bosses much quicker 5. The horn sound effect is much cooler than whatever swarming is supposed to sound like. 1. I've never been in a situation where I thought "I wish I could make them walk further!". I would just walk my captain closer to the target or just throw them. 2. I don't know how it's more simplistic to first point at the enemy, then press a button to lock on, then press a button (or shake) to charge, and then press another button to lock off.... than just to push the control stick in a direction. 3. True, but you could program the same when you swarm them. Just make it so that if an enemy is above them, they automatically fly up to it. And when the enemy is on the ground then they fly down. 4. I've had varying levels of success with Pikmin latching on when charging. Sometimes it works perfectly, like charging a ton of reds onto the butt of a sleeping bulborb, but other times it's a disaster, like when trying to charge a group of winged pikmin onto the exposed butt of a Flighty Joustmite. For some reason they just didn't grab the butt. They just went for the shell even though I was RIGHT behind the enemy. 5. Fair enough, if that's your opinion. All in all, I just wanna have both. In many situations the charge is more useful, in many others I really wish I had the swarm. When there are a ton of small objects I just want to have carried back, I now have to walk past them so that my pikmin walk between them, and then dismiss them. And then I have to call the rest back, but be careful not to call the ones carrying the stuff. It would be so much nicer if I could just swarm all the objects and then have the remaining pikmin still be in my squad. Just like in Pikmin 2. And if you'd rather have the camera on the C stick, then they could just give you an option to swap them. Heck, why not just let you swap by clicking-in the right stick? That doesn't do anything right now.
