I just realized something that I thought I should share: The Japanese name (as in "和名" not literally the japanese name) for the Empress Bulblax and Bulborb Larva doesn't especify what type of Bulborb they are, red, orange, hairy, etc, because the piklopedia entry says that the formation of a female with a swollen egg sac due to environmental changes and the fact that larval Bulborbs are colorless and can eat on their own is something that happens with all Bulborbs. We can know that the empress we see in the game is a pregnant red Bulborb because of its color but the game doesn't tell you "crimson spotted bug eyes" because it's something normal that happens to all Bulborbs.
The piklopedia entries for the empress and larva aren't entries for a specific type of bulborb, they are entries for a specific moment of the bulborb life cycle. Them having different scientific names was a massive mistake by the localization team.
