If Pikmin 4 had online, what would you think, and what would you want out of it?
I don't think the story mode should be online or even co-op, as that mode is designed around longer single-player focused puzzles. If would want co-op, I think the other modes are more fitting.
As for co-op/mission, I think online would work but I think it would be better with friends only, as Pikmin would be a hard game to play with out voice chat and I don't think Nintendo would want to use voice chat with strangers.
For Battle, I think online is perfect. You don't NEED voice chat, and if Nintendo has better servers, it would be easy to set up online versions of battle, both for friends and strangers. Plus they could also implement it so that you could plays 2 vs. 2 or 1 vs. 1 in order to add variety to the mode. Pikmin is a very niche series, so sometimes it is hard to find friends to play Pikmin battle with, since if you do have friends who play Pikmin online, you probably won't be able to play local with them very much. An online mode could be a very good solution to this issue.
What are your thoughts on this?

I have always been indifferent towards and online mode for pikmin but just as you said, online battle is perfect.
What i would like to see is a combination between online and single-player, like you "join" a friends game to see who finishes the game first/who gets the most treasure in a day, stuff like that,
For example: 5 minutes to gather as much treasure as you can in X mission

The thing with Pikmin being niche is that they probably won't go through the trouble of implementing anything online. Plus, although there are ways to easily do so, managing 100 Pikmin over two machines might prove to be problematic. And Nintendo isn't exactly good at online. But besides that, yeah, battle mode would be insanely good with online capabilities.
Other than that, I once had a pipe dream where you could have a plaza of sorts where you could see other leaders and their armies. But it wouldn't make a whole load of sense, at least not with the current Pikmin gameplay mechanics.

I absolutely loved Bingo Battle. I hope it will be in Pikmin 4 and online, and maybe make the maps better. It's really tactical if you think about it. (And I know, the Pikmin seroes as a whole is real-time strategy)

Yeah I was thinking they can make a cave feature for an online multiplayer feature where you explore caves with friends, this way there doesn't really need to be caves in the story mode so yeah.

And if it doesn't have online than maybe it can finally get online along with probably other games like when the NX releases just so Nintendo can finally have a good current gen console.

If there's ever online battles and such, there needs to be regional matchmaking. There's no way I'm going up against Japanese players who'll annihilate me. *cough*Splatoon*cough*

And if it doesn't have online than maybe it can finally get online along with probably other games like when the NX releases just so Nintendo can finally have a good current gen console. I commented about this on twitter, but A. Wii U is 100% current gen, there is no argument there and B. Its online does lack a few features and its servers AT FIRST were not as great as they are now, but the Wii U has much better online than Wii and has better online than you think. My one hope is that NX will have better servers, so if Pikmin 4 is NX, then online would probably be very possible (Also just so you know, NX will be 9th gen. Generations have nothing to do with power or features, they have to do with release timing, and a 4 year gap is enough to warrant a new generation)

The Wii U is current gen I know, even they can probably pull off online on Paper Mario Color Splash to make it actually somewhat of a fun game and not so much of a Paper Mario Sticker Star 2.
